smarter syncmanager or more Sync options
I Really Really urge Pioneer to please make some options for the syncmanager
My situation right now:
I have multiple Usb sticks & harddrives
all prepared with rekordbox
in the past i always copied a whole usb drive to another so it would have the same updated tracks because i only updated one usb drive directly from rekordbox
(less time consuming)because it was a mess allready (No playlists in rekordbox itself just on the usb drives)
Now im making a good fresh start (all sorted out playlists) on an all new laptop where i want to use the syncmanager with All the playlists i made on RB
but the syncmanager removes ALOT of tracks from the synced USB drive playlist because these dont have the same root source from where they originally came from
(though the ones in my rb playlists are an exact copy of the ones in my usb playlist)
So i really cant use rekordbox to the fullest because it will automatically delete/replace my allready sorted out tracks
I only need my new tracks that i added in the RB playlist to sync to the playlist on my Usbs
i dont want not recognized tracks to be deleted so can u make something like a switch to choose if u want to delete/replace tracks
inbuilding an option like this doesnt require much and it doesnt fuck up anything on anyones rekordbox
i just cant do all this shit manualy i have over 8000 tracks so yeah...
and all replacing them with the RB playlist version tracks Will fuck up all my existing hotcues and thus also creates a duplicate from every track
can u guys please adress this to the development team
the heck maybee u eventually can make a smart syncer?

It sounds to me like the majority of the frustrations you're experiencing stem from your workflow rather than rekordbox itself. For example, you say "but the syncmanager removes ALOT of tracks from the synced USB drive playlist because these dont have the same root source from where they originally came from" -- why did you move them? Where were they moved from/to?
Can you please explain step by step what you're doing so that I may better understand what it is you're trying to accomplish and perhaps offer some suggestions?
"I only need my new tracks that i added in the RB playlist to sync to the playlist on my Usbs"
rekordbox already does this; if you add new tracks and re-export your playlist, existing tracks in the playlist are unmodified, new ones are added.
ow shitt haha this can get a little bit complicated...
Now im going to explain what i exactly did and why i did that
So lets start with the beginning.. i have a new laptop with a new rekordbox where i am getting an ongoing shitload of new tracks and so i didnt have my tracks in my rekordbox that are from my old laptop
My goal was to let my new rekordbox have the exact same tracks and playlists that i had on my USB drive "A new fresh systematic plan" ( so that i didnt have to mass copying between usb drives from my pc .. "i wanted to only have to press sync when updating any playlists on the usb drive to have new tracks
but using the syncmanager with the playlists on the usb would let my old tracks get removed
Now remember that rekordbox doesnt let you export tracks to the laptop rekordbox playlist if it has tracks that aren't in its own Database ( This ofcourse would apply to my old tracks )
so i was really struggling and thinking of an easy Solution with me having all my usb tracks and playlists in rekordbox on my pc (Here is where it gets more complicated)
i discovered that u can export an m3u playlist from the playlists on ur USB drive
when u are in rekordbox right click on an usb playlist in dutch: (informatie opslaan) "Save information" then u click as an m3u playlist
I knew that opening that same playlist would refer to those specific tracks on my Usb drive
(And it would also be possible to have "this playlist" as an rekordbox playlist
it would then open a track with its location for example:
" E:\Contents\UnknownArtist\UnknownAlbum\Step Back - Chocolate Puma.mp3 "
this ofcourse would be the location of my usb drive
then i exported all the playlists as m3u playlists that i wanted to have a fresh new organized start with
So when i created all these m3u playlists (stored in my documents)
I decided to create a second Partition that i would gave the same drive letter as the original driveletter the usb had (in My case "E" ) Because if i copied my rekordbox USB Drive with all its content to this new partition and then changed the new partitions drive letter to "E" , My new m3u playlists that refered to all the tracks originally on my usb drive
now would refer to my Laptop harddisk Partition "E" instead
and thus i would have all my playlists and tracks when i imported the m3uplaylists to rekordbox
(it sounds like a real hussle but its actually quit simple and fast if u know what to do)
i dont know a faster way to recreate a library on a new machine and have all your playlists and tracks complete ( though i have seen 2 3 tracks missing on some m3u playlists i dont know why)
BUT THEN.....: because of the Export.pdb file located at ( Usb drive\PIONEER\rekordbox\ )
(the file that says what the rootsource is of a track that also has the information about where tracks are stored etc (Im not sure about if it also stores hotcues)
this file tells my rekordbox database "While using the syncmanager"
it says that it is another file (even though they are completely the same)
they just dont have the same rootsource according to Export.pdb ? correct me if im wrong?
and thats why it replaces my usb tracks with all the m3u playlist tracks that i stored in my new Partition
thus Creating a fysical duplicate on the usb drive
not to mention that its also removing the original Usb tracks out of the synced usb drive playlist because it "isn't located in my Rekordbox playlist"
So can we just have something like an option that makes u choose to only have something like " New tracks only exported " that just only export tracks after a certain line u can set up urself like a lock?
and an option to not Remove tracks that aren't included in the same Rekordbox database maybe in combination with like a reverse slot
that doesnt change whats already on the usb drive
i can add all the tracks again now from the Partition but it would fuck up all my cue points (btw where can i find where the cue points are stored?)
Thanks for spending the time writing it out -- I haven't read it yet (just got the email notification that you had posted), and I wanted to reply to let you know I've seen it. I'll take a read and see what changes I might suggest (if any), or fixes where possible.
hi pulse do u have an anwer to the question i made earlier?
Hi im still having problems with my new laptop and partially old USB database!
So i was thinking and thinking of a solution
something in a way where all my exact same tracks i have on my usb stored in a shadow copy on my hdd are reimported in a new database..
That would make the datafile.edb think these tracks stored on my usb are the same as my usb tracks.. and thus i could use syncmanager and finally also use "My tag"
Because now i just can't use alot of rekordbox functions properly
there is also an option where i could be able to use "My Tag" Directly on ur USB (Something needed to be implemented anyway ...) this just doesnt fix my sync problems
OR...
i have thought of multiple solutions and really complicated ways to workaround and this is my best solution that isnt even that hard for u guys to make..
and its really usefull for everyone coping with broken laptops/crashed laptops
thus having problems to recreate and sync USBs with new laptop playlists ....
my solution contains 2 files
An USB Hotcue backup Xml file that ONLY stores "locations'' and could be made and opened by rekordbox now
An zipped/Copied USBANLZ folder/zip from ur USB
the Xml file is supposed "when opted" to make rekordbox rewrite all hotcue info stored on the usb ( a clean usb containing all the tracks i have "imported from the backup content with a fresh rekordbox datafile " without hotcues, beatgrid etc) =no messing around with datafile.edb :)
the USB Hotcue backup xml u would have made / summoned in rekordbox from ur "old USB with hotcues etc" would Look something like this:
it stores the location of ur Usb tracks, for example track X =
F:\Contents\Kurtis Blow\The Breaks.mp3 *
under that it stores the USBANLZ LOCATION of track X =
*F:\PIONEER\USBANLZ\P013\0000521D*
THE XML ONLY STORE'S THE LOCATION <<<<<
WHERE THE HOTCUE FILES OF TRACK X CAN BE FOUND
Next:
And i have a USBANLZ folder copy zip from my old USB
Now i just delete the USB s new USBANLZ Folder and repaste the zipped USBANLZ Copy from my Old usb.
when it spots a exact same tracklocation on the USB it rewrites the export.pdb from the USB and tells Export.pdb the new USBANLZ location of that track
So u can replace "hotcue/file info locations"
i have made alot of effort and im trying to solve this for weeks so i really would like a adepted committed response to this..
