DJM850 v1.10 update

today I found out that v1.10 of the DJM850 contains a peak limiter function.

According to the schematics, the limiter function only is in the master output only

Now, nomally when the filter function is used you may experience peaks of +10 dB

but it seems that sice installing this version the peaks are contained. This would suggest

that the peak limiting function is not (only) in the master output path?

What strikes me is that master cue would still be not limited as well as digital out.

(like -- that is weird....?)

Can this be verified that the picture is correct or maybe oversimplified?

I have had cheap phones blown on the filer function...

Well if you look at the block diagram of the DJM850 file (which applies to the DJM900 & 850 btw) the limiter is only on the master output after the attenuation select. http://www.pioneer.eu/files/support/DJ/DJM-850/PEAK_LIMITER_E.pdf so yeah only the RCA & XLR outputs have the limiter chained through- attached a screenshot for ya.

that is what I said -- according to the pdf  it is just that -- only that place.

however so far (and again -- I haven't switched the limiter off yet) it seems that all input channels are alson contained.

E.g. I haven't seen the peaks yet that normally are produced there (more than 10 dB at times (!) at the input channels when using the

filtering function.

Another thing is that I would think that all output should be limited --- else you still have no use for the limiter if you are recording or using a digital output.

I'm not sure about the digital output- but usually the max level you'd get in a digital format is -6dB cause once you hit 0dB the clipping sounds much worse than analog distortion.

Try experimenting with the channels with the limiter on/off, let us know what you come up with- otherwise looks like it's just for the master out (I noticed it kicked in when some guy grabbed my mic at a private party and shouted his lungs out... limiter saved us all) :D
