HOW-TO : Get mixed media playlist (mp3+mp4)
This is a work around I found on youtube.
Step 1 : Download and install Rekordbox 4.0 ( version before the video plugin release)
Step 2 : In rekordbox 4, Drag n Drop your mp3 and mp4 together into a new playlist in your rekordbox 4 collection. When you are done, close Rekorbox 4.
Step 3 : Open your up to date Rekordbox version 5+. You can now anylize your new playlist and your mp4 files that are in it are now treated like mp3, but they will still run with the video plugin as a video file.
You CAN now :
- put video files in Taglist
- play video files in Pro dj Link (works with my RX2 , dont know for other player)
- export and play video files on a USB stick with export mode (again works on my RX2)
NOTE: There is some video that cannot be played via usb or Pro Dj Link, I guess because they have Variable BitRate (VBR). For me some VBR works others don't.
Tips: To indentify your video files within your playlist (since they will not be with the videofilm icon) I sort your mp4 by type and then tag them with a color tag.
Still waiting for Pioneer to make this less of hassle but it works for me like this in the meantime.
Thx

I've been using mixed playlists for awhile now. I'm thinking it was a vid I posted you watched :)
Surprised there's not more talk about it around the forums.
I still don't understand why the programmers don't implement this into RB. I understand that some people will have exporting issues ( possibly - if their MP4 are from shady sources ) but IMO if someone is using the video plugin they are 99% laptop / controller DJ. A simple check box to allow mixed media for those of us who could benefit
for now - I'll just continue loading my MP4 in 4.0 and playing in 5.3!!
