Couldn't change from control to link mode
Today i played with xdjs 1000 mk1 in link mode from usb. also connected to my mac with traktor but not in use. on startup i accidentaly selected link - pc instead of link - usb. so i pressed back until i got to the selectt screen. i clicked link - usb, could scroll trough my playlists on the stick but couldnt load any song - a message appeared "press back to exit control mode". but pressing back just got me back to the playlists on the stick. i had to disconnect the usb cable to the mac to select a song.

You need to press and hold the back button to disengage it.
Are you sure that's the message you got? When I choose Link > Control Mode on my XDJ-1000MK1, and then go to USB (or Link > USB) and try to load a song, the message that comes up says:
"PC connected. Push Rotary Selector to continue. Or push the BACK button to cancel."
So simply press the rotary selector again to disengage Control Mode and load the song from USB.
