Second hand RZ, register for free DVS expired?

Hi,

Got my second hand RZ today and managed to de-register with the guy that sold it and i registered Rekordbox dj in my name. All working ok on that side of things.

So I have just gone to try and activate the DVS which is free with the RZ and I cant because the registration closed in July 2016?

Hardly seems fair if the unit has free DVS, why is it only on a time period?

The unit could have been registered by previous owner but he didn't know, and if I bought a new one today id have the licence so how come a second hand user can have the software transferred over but not the DVS?

Or am i misreading the pioneer website on this?
