Distortion on DJM 450 Mk2

Hi, I recently bought a DJM450 Mk2 mixer (used). I have been using it fine with my turntables and also with timecode vinyl but tonight I tried running my XDJ700's into it and there was a lot of distortion on the right side of channel 1. Channel 2 and Aux are fine.

What is likely to be the issue and can it be fixed?

Thanks Tom

Hi Tom,

Did you possibly connect the XDJs into the PHONO inputs on the mixer?

Tom Burnell

No, definitely into the line-in's I had the phonos connected to my 1210s.

I tried switching around the XDJS and cables to eliminate them.

Btw - trying to use this site on chrome doesn't really work very well - it's impossible to log in - even after i cleaned my cookies - and on safari it does let me log in but takes ages.

Any advice on what this distortion could be?

If you already cross-checked the XDJs and cables, the only thing left is a hardware defekt on your DJM450.

PS: Are you sure you have an DJM450 MK2? There is no "Mk2" of this model AFAIK.

PPS: If you mean DJM450 - I checked the schematics from the ServiceManual and in this model, the phone/line inputs do not share the same signal path, e.g. A/D converters. So your distortion may come from one of the line input ADCs not working correctly. However, nothing you can fix, this unit needs service.
