jog wheels on DDJ SX2

I have a ddj sx2 had it for a few yrs used my turntables  this week I decided to use the serato dj pro. I don't know how to get the jog wheels to work . I load track hit the play button it plays but jog wheels do not respond.  If I hit pause I can move the jog wheel but it wont play and allow me to scratch and control the record .  I have no idea where my manual is. What am I not doing right ? Is there a certain way to start up for using jog wheels in scratch mode? Is there a seting I need to be in to use ? Somebody help a brotha out
