DJM-900NXS2 Pro-DJ link... Bit hit and miss for me. You?
Hi, using the 900NXS2 and 2 XDJ-1000's (all on latest firmware) and having occasional (50% of the time) where the mixer/players don't recognise each other. The players always see each other and do the normal 'handshake' but often the 'on-air' message doesn't get sent to the player when the upfader is active and I can't quantize my beat effects.
I don't think it's my switch as the players always see each other. Is there a specific startup sequence I should follow (mixer first then players etc...) or is this a possible bug. Anyone else suffering from this?
As an aside... What is a good (not necessarily expensive ) tried and tested network switch I could buy. I'm planning on moving my kit off my main network.

When you say "main network," does that mean your DJ kit is connected to a router/hub/switch that shares other sources–internet connect, multi-CPU network, etc.? If so, that could very well be the problem. Personally, I use an unmanaged desktop switch. Specifically, this relatively inexpensive beauty. At all times, the switch is only connected to my XDJs, DJM and CPU (MacBook Pro Retina, Yosemite).
Yup! Exactly right... Lots of data packets travelling through it beside my DJ stuff.
If you're not getting issues from an unmanaged dedicated switch then I think I might go ahead and follow in your footsteps.
Thanks for the response.
All good! I've had absolutely zero issues with this switch. *knocks on wood* Let me know if it works out for you.
Order just placed. I'll let you know once it comes.
@lostinsound, a good recommendation sir! Arrived today and so far the problem has gone away. Thank you.
(Bust an RCA cable when unplugging things so now on the hunt for a new set of them)
Have a good weekend!
Lesson learned - dedicated network = better!
@Barn_uk Excellent! Glad to hear it! Luckily solving the RCA problem will be much easier. :-) Cheers!
