Rekordbox DJ audio problem with cdj 2000 & djm 850, both cdjs playing to only 1 channel on mixer

I connected rekordbox DJ to 2 cdj 2000s, directly via 2 use cables and the audio was only playing to channel 1 on both cdjs. Cdjs were hooked up to mixer via digital.

Firmware 4.33 on both cdjs

hid in advanced

rekordbox 4.06

mixer is djm 850

I checked the troubleshooting and the audio output looks correct. I also have the driver installed by clicking drivers, in rekordbox, and installing the ones there.

I'm not sure how to fix this.

@Vinnie > Instead of sending the audio via the CDJ, why not send it to the DJM instead? That would allow easier control of the audio through one device instead of two.

Vinnie Nguyen

So use 3 usb cables and connect both cdjs and the mixer to the laptop and run audio through the mixer?

Pulse

Correct; you still require the USB for the CDJs in order to control rekordbox via HID in performance mode, the audio would go to the mixer over USB.

I also assume you're using a PC?

According to the instructions here, it's supposed to work when I just hook up 2 cdjs

Pulse

Yes, but that guide also says "To use CDJs as an audio device" -- I recommend using the DJM as your audio device.

Thanks Keiko, I get that I can use the mixer as the audio device.

I just want an explanation as to why using the cdjs as an audio device is not working when it clearly shows in the instructions that it should work.

So you need two usb cables to connect to the CDJs?

Pulse

@PJ > To control rekordbox dj via HID, yes.

@Vinnie You can absolutely do this the original way you spoke of which is also listed in rekordbox's setup guide. The key is the driver. You need to load the Aggregate driver on their website. I had the same problem and this fixed it....come on guys. Don't tell him to do it a different way. My comp only has 2 USB ports anyway. Happy spinning.
