iPad with DJAY Pro vs. CDJ-2000 Nexus
One of my friends asked me an interesting question:
When you would connect 2 CDJ-2000 Nexus on to a USB hub, and would plug in an iPad on this USB hub too, would it be possible to use DJAY Pro for iPad, and use the 2 CDJ’s as the controller decks?
I would say this won’t work as you probably also need a midi device. Is that true?
Maybe when you would also plug a DJM-900 Nexus/SRT in to the USB hub, then this iPad option could work.
His motivation for this question was, that he owns a very good but analogue mixer, and want’s to connect 2 used CDJ-2000 or XDJ-1000 decks on to it. To be used in combination with an iPad and iOS DJAY Pro, mainly for Spotify usage.
He doesn’t always want to use a laptop and Rekordbox, to keep his setup simple when it can.

No, the CDJs and DJM are not class-compliant devices and require drivers to function, thus they aren't compatible with iOS. Sorry!
Hi Pulse, thanks for the fast and clear answer. What I already thought.
I should say, when you already have a load of CDJ hardware and a mixer, whats the big problem to add an extra laptop instead of an iPad. Both can do DJAY Pro - Spotify, but with a laptop then you can use DJAY Pro in combination with 2 CDJ's.
He showed me this item, he thought that this might work, but no. As you wrote, CDJ's are not class-compliant, and need drivers to run from. Not possible with an iPad only.
Advised him to use a big USB stick full of music, and 1 Cat.5 cable in between the CDJ.s. This is the most minimalistic setup, but without Spotufy then. May in the future...
