Record out in Digital
Hi
I currently connect a DJM900NXS2 record out (RCA - Analogue) to another mixer in another location/zone so that the sound in that location can sometimes simply mirror the main zone (where the DJM900NXS2 is).
BUT - This brings in an extra D->A and A->D conversion.
The digital RCA output of the DJM900NXS2 is affected by it's master volume level so I can't use this (as I want to control the volume in the second zone using the second mixer).
However, I notice there is also a USB record out option. Is it possible to plug in a USB coax spdif adapter into this to effectively add record level digial out?
Or, any other ideas? Can the LINK ethernet interface be used to send a digital record out to another mixer if the other mixer is is also a DJM900NXS2?
Thanks!
Chris

The digital output is affected by the channel volume levels, not the master output - so in effect, you could run the digital output from mixer 1 to mixer 2 via digital and still have independent volume control for each set of analog master outputs on each mixer.
Realistically, 99.9% of people wouldn't notice that it's doing a D>A>D>A conversion vs. a single D>A conversion.
Thanks DJ.. that would work!
Just to double check: in the manual the block diagram shows the digital out connected after the master volume...? is this wrong or is master volume some other thing?
Thanks very much!
Chris
Sorry - that's my bad, I was thinking of the REC out (and the USB REC out); the digital output is controlled by the master pot.
If you were wanting to use the USB output, you'd have to use a computer to manage that signal.
Ok that's kool. Thanks again!
Chris
