DDJ-SX2 Firmware Updater doesn't launch

I'm trying to reload the firmware for a DDJ-SX2 which has a few gremlins, but is generally functional. The report from the Version Display Utility is not encouraging: It says the firmware is Ver0.01, which suggests the firmware is corrupt.

The file DDJ-2_UpdaterApp_v1.06_2.jar is installed in my Downloads folder, but after starting the DDJ-SX2 in firmware mode (Master Level LEDs are flashing) the Firmware Updater app never launches, and I don't see it in the SX2 files.

Does anyone know how to give it a kick, or is the DDJ-SX2 now "bricked" and ready to hop in the dumpster?
