EXTERNAL SSD OPTIMISATION?
Having been a Rekordbox user for many years now, I seem to have always had trouble with my external drives, can someone please just clarify what is the best settings for the following.......
- I have a Sandisk Extreme 2tb SSD
- I use a Mac & Windows to prep my music
- should I format my drive as ExFat or Fat 32?
- Should I partition the drive when I format it on my Mac (GUID)
I think I’m going to just start my collection again whilst life is quite but I want to make sure it’s done correctly.
Many thanks

Conditions to help the decision:
1) If you're never going to connect it to a player directly, but plan on using both OS's, use exFAT.
2) If you're going to connect it to a player directly and want to use the drive with both OS's, use FAT32.
3) If you're going to connect it to a player directly and only want to use it with a Mac, use HFS+.
FYI: GUID drives work for general use, just not for firmware updates.
I am not an expert but about to do a similar thing. It depends on what you want to do with it, as you didn't say how you plan on using the drive (plugged into laptop running Rekordbox, or as a media source in CDJs).
I think what I am going to do is format the drive Fat32, as I believe that would allow you to use as external drive for your laptop, as well as plug it directly into cdj2000nxs2 for example and play as if it were a thumbdrive. You also need to select Master Boot Drive (not GUID).
I read not to use multiple partitions if you plan to plug directly into pioneer cdjs because it will only read the first partition. (Again, need confirmation bc I am not the expert).
