XR2 Beat FX for external players
Thinking about picking up and rx2 and I’d like to know if you have to tap tempo when using an external source or will the unit auto detect the bpm for the beat fx?

The RX2 will use the beat-grid of the rekordbox-analysed tracks to lock the FX to the tempo, so even if the grids change or the tempo is adjusted, the FX can stay in sync. If you're using a non-analysed source, or a line input, you can either allow the RX2 to automatically detect the tempo, hit the TAP button a few times to lock it at a manual rate:
