can't connect speaker and headphones

hi i bought the pioneer ddj ergo today and i only have one speaker. i have downloaded all the software and the knobs are all correct but i cant get any sound through my headphones or speaker. I plugged them into my laptop but i cant control the sound. How do i connect the aux cable to the pioneer ddj ergo? and what settings do i need to use to get them both to work? help would be much appreciated!
