A project can contains 1024 patterns!!
but why only 1600 for all projects ?

I assume it's a storage limitation. With being able to export patterns, 1600 shouldn't be an issue really. 16 pattern SETS is a serious issue. That number needs to be at least 64 if not more.
Very frustating If you want to keep all your patterns and projects on the squid!!!
You've already used up all 1600 patterns? I am not really seeing much of an issue here just like all the outrage over a 32 second sample time limit on the SP-16 which wasted about a year of development time and pushed the real issues with the machine in to the background where they are still not fixed years later.
