Is it possible to send effects to ableton (or any other software) of the USB effects send or is it only work for iPhone/iPad stuff? If not, is there any other way to use the ableton effects in my sets (using some other routing trick)?

There are many possibilities with Ableton as the mixer has two sound cards in it.  Unfortunately, the only official use for the digital send/return is for mobile devices but there are some users out there who have configured some DIY solutions (at their own risk) to use the digital send/return in different ways.  We cannot, however, officially support these methods.
