CDJ-3000 Tempo Slider

Hi there.

An authorized Pioneer DJ dealer in my city told me that the CDJ-3000 had a new tempo slider, different from the CDJ-2000NXS2's. The CDJ-3000's is optical and therefore more accurate.
Is that true? Has Pioneer changed the tempo slider on the CDJ-3000?
Thank you.

No, this is not correct.

I checked the service manual. The CDJ 3000 still has a VR (variable resistor), no optical sensor.

Also most probably it will never have an optical sensor for the tempo slider, because with optical sensor it is very complicated to get the *absolute* position of a fader. While for things where you only need the relative position (e.g. for the jog wheel) an optical sensor is ideal.

I wonder why he made that up. We were talking about the tempo slider accuracy of the SC6000 and CDJ-2000NXS2 and he told me it had been improved on the CDJ-3000. Maybe they have improved something? (Not the optical thing)
