DDJ 400 Lights turn on then dim

I have a macbook pro and a ddj400 once I plug it in all the lights light up like normal then all the lights turn off except for the hot que and fx buttons dim instead of turn off. I have tried changing the cord from the controller to my laptop as well as changing the usb doc that goes into my laptop.
