Using my XDJ XZ with Rekordbox or Serato

Hello Everyone. I think I have to missing something pretty simple. I've had my XZ for a while now and decided to try and hook it up to my computer to try out the four deck feature. Here's my issue. It doesn't matter if I use Rekordbox or Serato my XZ is rendered for all practical purposes (useless). The only on board control that are available are the pitch control and volume. Please tell me I'm missing something somewhere. No color effects, no regular effects, no loop functions, no performance pads, no anything!!!! It all has to be done on the computer? My numark from 10 year ago worked better than this. What am I missing?
