Why the padfx hold workaround doesn't work on ddj xp2?

I use the padmode change workaround/trick to hold the padfx effects on my ddj1000 this is a great feature, sometimes i want to add an effect and use my both hands  on the mixer.

Unfortunately this can't be achieve the same way on the DDJ XP2, I miss it so much.. Is there any other workaround that i'm missing? That would be so simple to add that i can't understand this fault in the product (maybe in the software) design...
