Using Abelton with DJM 2000

Hi,

I just bought a DJM 2000 and want to connect my laptop to it with Abelton live 8 running on it. If anybody has the patience for me, could you briefly run me through the steps which can allow me to do this as ive looked through the manual and I cant find anything.

Cheers.

Sure. What kind of system do you have? Windows or Mac?

The basics are. Install all drivers for the DJM2000 and Firmware.

Open up ableton.

Go to Options.

Select Audio Tab.

On Audio Device. ASIO

Device Type. DJM2000 should be on the list.

Make sure you disable Mono Channels and use Stereo Channels.

Create 2 new channels and Map the audio routing.

So they should like like this. In Ableton Mix View.

Audio 1 = Ext In 1/2 then Ext Out 1/2 then Arm Track Leave Auto Alone

Audio 2 = Ext In 3/4 then Ext Out 3/4 then Arm Track Leave Auto Alone

Audio 3 = Ext In 5/6 then Ext Out 5/6 then Arm Track Leave Auto Alone

Audio 4 = Ext In 7/8 then Ext Out 7/8 then Arm Track Leave Auto Alone

Your all done. YOu can now use all 4 channels on your DJM2000 for Mixing. You can turn on Midi and Map the DJM2000 to Ableton controls too.

I have a PC. I have installed all the drivers and firmware. Im assuming that you plug the computer into the mixer via the USB input at the back then do all the steps on Abelton?

Hi guys,

I'm having some problem with my djm 2000 connected to my laptop as well. I can't seem to find the Audio 4 on my Ableton live 8 device output config.

All I'm seeing in the output config is

1/2 (stereo)

3/4 (stereo)

5/6 (stereo)

The "7/8 (stereo)" option is nowhere to be found). But all the available channel is doing just fine.

I'm running on 32 bit Windows 7. In my DJM utility setup i selected 3 output 1 input. option. I've also put my channel selector on my djm 2000 to USB.

Is there something i'm missing??

Please help...

Hello when you use live on my djm-2000 e noticed that pressing the keys of screen touch midi there is a lag time between when pulse key and when sounds the sound I wanted to know if this is normal that live I have selected the shot of the clips to 1/32 and au so there is this gap

@Taufik: 7/8 is missing, because you've selected the 3 output and 1 input option. If you need 7/8, you should select 4 output and 0 input.
