XDJ1000 MK1 - Search button engages on its own

One of my xdj's is consistently engaging the search button and rushing through tracks making the player unusable. The cue button works inconsistently and the pitch fader does not change the speed of the track, although it does appear to move on the screen. Is this a software error?

Everything else works fine on the player, all other functions are doing what they are supposed to. Happening using Traktor and also USB sticks. 

I have updated to the latest firmware and the problem is continuing, which makes me think there is something wrong with the hardware.. I have only had them a year and they are kept in a flight case and never move, so I cannot see where any damage could have occurred.
