Its because the cdj is not a controller! It's designed to play cds/usb. It has hot cues but I'm sure you know that.

The pads are put on controllers as part of the performance feature which is in actual fact a mixer with jogs attached. So the question shoud be 'why don't they put the pads on the djms?

Pioneer cdjs do not have built in samplers and never had... so there has never been a need to put sampler pad on it :/
