Best way to set a DDJ-SR up at a gig

Right, I usually just use a pair of 2000s with USB, and I've recently bought a Traktor Scratch A6 (but haven't used yet)... I also have a a DDJ-SR at home which I practice on... If I wanted to set this up at a club, how would I do it? Could I just connect directly from the master into a channel on the mixer? I've tried before, and it didn't work, but I was drunk, so I may have been trying to plug the leads in to the AUX IN, as it was also very dark.
