Connection issue with New MacBook Pro and DDJ-SR

Hi so I just bought brand new MacBook Air and USB adapter (just the simple usb to usb-C cable). And now when I plug my desk sr controller in serato no longer automatically pops up like it used to on my old Mac (and that’s the only way I can access serato)? If I go onto the MIDI audio I can see the controller’s connected there but nothing else seems to work, is it something to do with the adapter ? (Quite new to this so don’t really know what I’m doing here)
