Connecting djm 900 nexus 2 to macbook pro rekordbox dj

Hello Folks, Im wondering if I have a mid 2012 macbook pro, which is a great laptop I used for years and years, with rekordbox dj on the laptop used in performance mode, can I connect a djm-900 nexus 2 through USB to the laptop and use it normally with out the use of cdjs? Will I have to map the djm900 to rekordbox dj to use it or is it without CDJs? Thank you!
