DJMS9 Humming Noise

The problem I'm experience is a loud feedback noise (loud humming noise) that I noticed when I plugged it in and connected it to my amplifier.

I tried different things to remedy the situation- moved wires and equipment around, disconnected equipment plugged into it, adjusted computer settings and overall unplugged everything connected to the mixer.

Anyone have any recommendations or solutions?

@Christopher > My suggestion would be to try to try it with different cables or another speaker / amplifier to try and rule it out. You might also check that there's no ground-loop due to two different circuits being used.

If you are definitively able to point to the S9 causing the noise, I'd suggest having it inspected and / or serviced.

Thanks for the suggestion I will try it out. I'm currently using gold-plated shielded phono cables to connect to the mixer from my Sony amplifier and I will try a different cable.

You might also try using a different output -- eg. RCA instead of XLR (or vice-versa).

And check the grounding as well, it sounds like you're using a home-theatre amplifier, and that could be where the problem lies.

Hi, I am using Sony DH770 2hoch is a home theater amplifier and connecting using RCA connectors. What do you mean when tou say check the grounding? There are no ground wires connected.

What I mean by ground-loop is if both the S9 and Sony are grounded, there may be an issue causing the audio connection to act as a bridge, thus introducing an electrical hum.

If they're not on the same electrical circuit, try connecting them to the same power bar. While not recommended, you may also try using a ground-lift one one of the devices to remove the potential loop.
