DDJ-400 not communicating with Mac

I bought my DDJ-400 this week and set it up according to the manual. From my understanding, this unit should be plug-n-play and does not require any additional driver installation. When I connect the unit and open Rekordbox, only the ON/OFF and Hot Cue buttons are fully lit, the rest are dimly lit and do not function. 

Please help ASAP!
