Moving head patterns do not start from the selected offset

In the moving head pattern selection prompt you can select a start offset. I would expect that the pattern starts from this offset:

However, when I select a pattern for a second time within the same scene, it doesn't start from the beginning. It position behaves if as the pattern was never interrupted by another one. So, if the pattern is a line, it will start somewhere in the middle, depending on how much time passed since the pattern was active the last time. To illustrate this I added another picture:
