XDJ 1000 Mk2 Quantize function

I have 2 XDJ1000 Mk2 with a DJM900NXS2 mixer. When i have the quantize function enabled on both decks does it mean that when using a hot cue/cue or play button to start a mix with an already playing track should it automatically sync the start point to whatever i have the beat value set to or can the quantize function only be used with loops?
