XDJ-RX with Rekordbox DJ
I was just wondering if you need the laptop to work with the new Rekordbox DJ and the XDJ-RX or is it just the software update on the console for more features?

A little of both I think. Xdjrx can go stand alone without a laptop
or pc, or it can be a controller in Rekordbox now, with the new updates.
cheers Rick, I already have the XDJ-RX and love it..... I have added the updates and nothing seems to have changed when it is stand alone and I just wondered if I have missed anything. Plugging the laptop seems to sort of defeat the purpose of it.
As a controller it had limitations before the new firmware and update.
To be honest I have not updated it yet, so I can't say how the new changes
work. I think that using it with the laptop gives you the full Rekordbox arsenal
of effects and features, other than the 4 channels of control. I use the ddjrz with
the laptop and software for my studio. I use the XDJRX for everything else, and
take it with me if need be, odyssey workstation case. Some users have told me
to hold off on the update since they still have issues and regret updating. So I'm just
waiting to see where it goes since I don't really need to plug in to the laptop.
Please download and install firmware version 2.1 which was released today.
