XDJ RX Track Colour on screen

I've seen videos where they have different colours for the tracks on the display of the RX. I've tried setting the tracks the colour in Rekordbox, but they all show up as the default blue colour. What am I obviously missing here. :P

Okay, a bit of confusion -- it's not the TRACK colour that applies to the display, it's the DRIVE colour. Take a look...

In rekordbox (Export mode), click on the USB drive name, and on the right side, change the preferences for the Background Color:

Here's a photo of that drive (and another drive I set to red) in the XDJ-RX with a song loaded from each:

I think you speak about the background color of USB key.
In Rekordbox, select your usb in the left tree. On the right, select the tab "General" and set the "background color" of your choice.
Eject the key.
On your RX, each time you will select a track on this key, the colour will be the one you selected.

Yeah that's it thanks. Does it also work for when you don't use a USB and just connect through Pro Link?

Toonz

I don't think so. I didn't find a way to change the colour when using through link.

Pulse

Nope - just the USB device.

So the track color, what you can set for each track in info screen in RB is not displayed? Only the USB stick color?

Pulse

Correct - the "colour" is a customizable tag, and does not affect the display colour in any way.

Tom Janssens

To bad, on page 18 of the user manual, explaining number 10, it say's:

"You can set background color through Rekordbox"

And number 10 refers to the track title.

The user manual from the Pioneer website

I'll ask the engineers as I've never seen the track background colour set on an XDJ-RX before.

Tom Janssens

Hi Pulse,

Any feedback from the engineers about the color in the manual?

Thx

Pulse

Sorry, nothing yet - this is a minor issue, but I'll post when I hear back.

Tom Janssens

Hi Pulse, I found the so called coloring...

In the first photo you see the "info" screen in the browser menu, there the stars are colored in the color you choose

In the second photo you see the "info" screen in the main play screen, there the stars are not colored anymore but the color is displayed in the bottom of the screen.

So there is no constant way they put the color of the track on the display, maybe this should be one way to color it in the futur ;-D

Tom Janssens

Mmmmmmm, drive color OK. But they refer to track color in the manual. It wound we a good optie to display the color the the track, you can make some difference within a playlist that is fast visible.

But OK, thank you for looking in to the question!!!

Pulse

Exactly why I was confused for so long! ;)
