DJM 900 digital out & Mac

At the minute I run my Mac audio (via Headphone socket) through my mixer (CH4 phono) so everything coming through my Mac comes through my monitors.

The DJM900NXS has 4 digital inputs - two of which I have my CDJs connected.

Could I use a digital cable from my Mac to go to digital in CH4 of my mixer? Would this work the same way I'm doing now with RCA's?

Trying to de-clutter my wires, plus have the benefit of better sound quality.

Why not use the USB (which would output CH1)?

If USB was on the back of the mixer yes, but as it is on top of the mixer (which I find odd) I couldn't use it as a permanent option for the way I have my setup, etc.

The reason it's on the top and not the back is so when it's installed in a club, the DJs don't need to grope around the back of the mixer to find the USB connection - they can pop their cable into the face-mounted jack easily.

Back to your original question, yes, you could use the digital connection and it would be better than an analog connection, although imperceptibly so by most ears.
