DJM 900 Clipped Distortion When Recording Audio From The REC OUT
I have a Zoom H1 digital audio recorder. http://www.amazon.com/Zoom-Handy-Portable-Digital-Recorder/dp/B003QKBVYK
I have tried to record a few live shows with multiple DJ's playing throughout a long day. (10 Hours)
Whenever a DJ starts playing into the "RED" the recording starts clipping and sounds horrible.
I try to tell them to stay out of the red, but it's like telling a dog not to lick his balls.
I ordered some -6DB RCA attenuators but I am not sure this will solve my problem.
If the DJM-900 is outputting a clipped signal than an attenuator will just attenuate a clipped signal.
Any thoughts???

you need to show them what it sounds like in the red, by showing them a recording of their set as you have it now, with the clipping and all, and explain to them that if they keep it in the green you will actually be able to turn it up louder and remove compression/limiting and people on the dancefloor will enjoy their set more because it will come out more clear and punchy.
otherwise, smack them a few times, kick them off the decks, turn down their volume until they listen
Show them this picture... ;)
How did the cable work for you?
