[SOLVED] Formatting USB Sticks

I see a lot of people saying they have formated ("FAT32" - Don't know what it is) their USB Stick.

Why should someone format it? Should I do it right after unboxing it or just when I used it for months or years? Not formating it could cause problems while playing on CDJs?

Thanks.

FAT32 is the format that the CDJ's read. Most USB's are formatted to FAT32 anyway. The only time people re-format is if they have made a change in recordbox settings I.e set all auto cues to load automatically. We reformat which wipes the USB clean and re-export our playlists to the stick.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Arwelthemonk, it helped a lot :D

@Daniel > If you format a USB stick, you totally clean anything off it that may be on it as well as re-writing a "set of instructions" on to it. Formatting into FAT32 allows a PC / Mac and CDJ to read these particular "set of instructions" to be able to retrieve the audio data on the USB.
