Playing music on my CDJ's from Laptop - won't play anything - Rekordbox
Sure this is a very noob question
I have got a mixer and 2 CDJ's 350's - first time
With the CDJ's, I got a software called RekordBox - I installed this as per instructions on my Macbook Pro, all ok.
When I connect via USB to the CDJ, I put the CDJ Mode to Connect to the Computer but it doesn't recognize anything.
When I play a song through the program on my laptop - it says, Can't play sound file, please check audio settings
--
What do I have to do?
--
Do I have to use RekordBox or can I use something like Traktor too? Just wondering
--
Do I have to do some settings or something to make it play audio from the laptop to the CDJ's?
Thanks

I am mostly sure that it doesnt work that way, as far as i know you have to export your music to an USB drive or hardrive to use it with the players directly and the USB connection is for interfacing the players as controllers in order to use them with DVS software.
The only players you can connect to rekordbox directly are the CDJ 2000 and 900 and these players have ethernet ports so you can make a ProDJ link between the computer and all the players through a hub or a DJM 2000
Rekordbox is a DB management software and not a DVS like Traktor and yes you can use them as souncards (i think because you can do that with the 400s) and use the players as controllers
You have to install the pioneer drivers and of course have an actual DVS software
@Umar Salman
i have the CDJ-350's too, and it doesnt work that way, the control mode is for things like Traktor and VDJ ect,
rekordbox analyses the music, creating good acurate beat grids making it easier to beatmatch and less chance of the beat going out once in, you use a USB thumb drive to transfer files from rekordbox to the player, using the USB port on the top of the player
as you said it does not reconise any files, i am sure you have already imported the files, so plug a usb drive into your macbook and click the small arrow beside devices on the left hand side of rekordbox click the + beside the device and click all track or all file, select the songs you want to transfer and drag them onto the device, then eject the usb drive put it into your CDJ and drive the neighbours mad, have fun playing with your new toy and if ya get stuck i am always here to help
Hey DJ-Ric, great to know someone else with same gear - I got the CDJ's, not the DJM (yet)
I'm new to DJ'ing so excuse any dumb questions :)
How long you been DJ'ing for? What kind of music is your preferred style?

So RekordBox is a software for organizing your music? What do you mean by Creating Accurate Beat Grids? Can you give me an example? For example let's say a dump a Britney Spears album onto Rekordbox - what will it do or can it do with say 20 given songs?

Also I don't know how to use DVS software with the CDJ's - I have Traktor Pro. What do you have? And how do you use the DVS software? I tried last night to connect it up with Traktor but got so confused and eventually gave up. What exactly is the purpose of the DVS software? What can it do? What's the benefit to have a laptop hooked up to your CDJ's rather than just doing off USB's or CD's?
Thank you
DJ-Ric you got Skype or Facebook or something I can contact you on? Thanks!

Hello,
I have bought a CDJ-350 and i had connect it to my laptop and i try to play music from the laptop and when i play a song from winamp it plays only for 2 seconds and then stops??
Is a problem with the cable ??should i use a special cable to connect laptop with cd player??
thanx
jacob
i had that problem with tracktor and it is because of the buffer setting, now with winamp i am not sure you can change the buffer setting, as the CDJ's are ment to be controlers so really having been designed with winamp in mind
hey guys, i was just wondering why my cdj 2000 wont pick up all my songs from the usb any help? thank you
fist this is the cdj 350 forum, you would be better to post in the right forum because people who own the same equipment as you is more likly to be able to help, but saying that i always at least try to help
Format your USB thumb drive, making sure it is formated ti a file type of FAT32, and make sure quick format box is not ticked, do this twice.
then when putting the tracks back on use rekordbox to export them to the USB
Sorry about that. Thank you
Hey guys
Does rekordbox have a limit to how many tracks you can import onto it ? Because when i try to import a track from itunes to rekordbox box it does nothing. It worked for a while and then all of a sudden stopped letting me import
@Aiden > I don't believe the Rekordbox Collection has a limit. I know the CDJ's have a limit when using Rekordbox files on a USB device, but I don't think from your main collection.
How many tracks do you have in your Collection that makes you think there is a limit?
It could be that you already imported that track before and it will not re-import it.
It's also best to start your own thread with different and unrelated issues. ;)
