DDJ-1000 Not Recognized as Audio Device by Mac (Big Sur)

Sometime in the last three weeks, my MacBook Pro stopped recognizing the DDJ-1000 as an audio device. It does not appear at all in the audio device settings. The computer does recognize the DDJ-1000 as a MIDI controller.  When I connect to the DDJ-1000, I am able to control Rekordbox DJ on my laptop using the controller, but all sound comes from the laptop speakers, not the master/booth outs. My computer is able to output to different audio devices, such as my Traktor S5 controller and a Scarlett USB audio interface.

I am running a 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro, Intel, with macOS Big Sur 11.4. I am running the DDJ firmware version 112_MAC64. I am running the latest audio driver for DDJ-1000/Big Sur (M_3.0.0).

I have followed the troubleshooting steps laid out in this thread, to no avail. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the most up to date DDJ-1000 drivers, and firmware, according to Pioneer's directions several times now. I have used the `sudo kextcache --clear-staging` command before doing so. I have reinstalled MacOS Big Sur. (I do not see encounter security authorization messages in the system privacy settings when I reinstall the software, I presume because I have previously allowed the software to run.)

The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling rekordbox itself. I believe I'm using version 5.4 or something, because I need it to support RekordCloud, and Pioneer has yet to fix the bug blocking RekordCloud from working with Rekordbox 6 or the most recent versions of 5. But, I suspect the issue is not with Rekordbox anyway because it seems more of a system level issue - the mac should recognize the controller as an audio device even when Rekordbox isn't involved.

Thank you for your help.

Hey John,

First of all, only rekordbox 6 or 5.6.8 are compatible with Big Sur, so you'll need to use those versions.

As for the DJ-1000, the driver security should have worked following the kextcache clearing method provided you followed all the steps to remove and reboot throughout. Check the System Information app under Software > Disabled Software to see if the driver was blocked, or Software > Extensions to see if it's loaded when the DDJ is connected.

I uninstalled Rekordbox 5 and Rekordbox 6, completely uninstalled the ddj-1000 drivers including using the kextcache clearing method. Installed the most recent version of Rekordbox 6, installed the most recent ddj-1000 drivers. Still not being recognized as an audio device.

The driver is not listed under disabled software. In Software > Extensions it shows as Notarized: Yes; Loaded: No; Obtained From: Identified Developer.

The not loading part sounds like an issue - how can I change that?

If you're using 11.4, we're noticing this is more of a problem. I'll ask you to please file an inquiry ticket here and our support team can gather some additional information to troubleshoot further. Thanks.

I'm also having this issue on MacOS 11.5 (M1) using rekordbox 6.5.2 & a DDJ-800. This was fine until I updated my laptop. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and the installation was "successful" but still "no audio driver loaded".

I'll submit a ticket as well but please do update this thread if you come across a solution, thanks!

This is happening to me also with an SRT1000. I have lost over £300 due to gigs i've either had to walk off or cancel due to this problem. Rather than 'noticing' a problem, when will it be fixed. You CANNOT say your product line is compatible with Big Sur when it is clearly not. I have logged a ticket but would welcome your comments as to whether compensatory gestures are appropriate in this case.
