I don't know, is the forum dead? In some subforums, the posts are many years old ???

no, the sorting is all messed up in sub forums. Go to the main page and sort by "recent"
for instance in the last 2-3 weeks there are like 30 new topics
It's not messed-up; we intentionally sorted them by "most discussed" first so that users could browse to find relevant topics first. But as @BriChi points out, click the "Recent" link to view the newest stuff.
Changes are a'brewin' anyhow, so no worries.

I hope the sorting will be changed back to sticky's first then latest posts.
A lot of old, irrelevant threads are on top now
