XDJ-RX - Experiencing distortion through phono/line channels when connected to external decks
I run my friends pioneer DDJ-SB decks through the phono/line inputs of my decks (XDJ-RX) when we DJ in a club. However today I have connected the two decks together as usual and now his sound is incredibly distorted and dirty sounding. I have double checked all settings, speakers, cables, FX, gains/volumes - everything looks correct. The only thing I have changed is that I performed a firmware update on my XDJ-RX from version 1 to the latest version.
Please help! If you have any ideas how to troubleshoot this problem!

Would you have accidentally knocked the little phono/line switch on the back beside the input connection?

Does the SB cause distortion when connected to other playback devices? (Eg. bypass the XDJ-RX and go directly to the speakers.)
Have you tried connecting other sources to the inputs on the RX to see if they distort as well?
