2.02 dragging issue

My USB contains playlists and songs that are no longer on my HD (new laptop, moving HD's to SSD and moving most of the wavs i don't need daily access to to a different external etc). I've built a perfect collection on the USB and i cloned it to other USB's for backup. I regularly add/delete from this master USB. Now with 2.02 i'm being told i need to delete this USB and repopulate to solve the "songs won't drag from HD to USB after update to 2.02" issue. Obviously this is not a solution that works for me as i don't have the Files on the accessible HD any more. 

How can i avoid erasing the USB and repopulating it with songs that are now on diff drives in diff folders?
