Running a laptop through Pioneer DJM-450 as a straight music source

I'm looking to run my laptop through my DJM-450 as a music source (i.e. without DJ software, I just want to be able to play music from my laptop through my mixer), is this possible? When I connect my laptop with the USB cord provided, I cannot get the music to come through the mixer and sound system. Any assistance is appreciated.
