OMNIS DUO EFFECTS

HEY EVERYBODY AT PIONEER/ ALPHA THETA, I have a suggestion regarding the Omnis Duo. I was thinking, wouldn’t it be more convenient if there was a simple switch to quickly change the effects channels instead of having to navigate through the menu each time (its a three step process)? I wonder if it's possible for you to update the firmware to allow users to remap buttons, such as the Bluetooth forward and reverse buttons, or add a 'SHIFT" function for the headphone 1 & 2 buttons for this purpose (FX channel switching). This change would greatly improve usability for me and could even be a deciding factor in my choice of equipment. PLEASE DO THIS!

+1 to this! The multi-step process on the touch screen to change the effects channel is clunky. OPs suggestion re: possible shortcuts makes a lot of sense to me.

LazySunday

yes!

Please implement this request, would be just perfect! I don't mind to have the fx on screen, but at least give me a shortcut to change the channels.

Shift + Headphone 1 & 2 would be PERFECT.

+1 to this too - just got my unit and this is the biggest missing feature!

I’d like to add to this suggestion with some structured ideas on how the development team could implement this brilliant shortcut in standalone mode.

Currently, changing the channel destination for Beat FX (between MIC, MASTER, CH1, and CH2) is actually a 5-step touchscreen process that really breaks the performance flow:

  1. Tap to open the FX panel.
  2. Tap "CH SELECT" to open the selection menu.
  3. Tap your desired destination option.
  4. Tap outside the "CH SELECT" box to close the selection menu.
  5. Tap the three dots to close the FX panel.

Since the OMNIS-DUO has limited physical real estate, utilising the SHIFT key for a shortcut is the perfect solution. Building on Tommy and LazySunday's ideas, here are four concrete ways this could be mapped in a future firmware update, cycling through the options in the hardware order (MIC ➔ MASTER ➔ CH1 ➔ CH2):

Option 1: SHIFT + CUE 1 / CUE 2

  • How it works:
    • SHIFT + CUE 1 (Headphones) cycles backward through the options.
    • SHIFT + CUE 2 cycles forward through the options.
  • Why it’s great: It utilises the naturally separated Left and Right headphone cue buttons to act as intuitive "previous" and "next" controllers. Additionally, this layout beautifully mirrors the unit's existing logical behaviour where the BEAT ◄ / ► buttons decrement or increment values, making this shortcut mentally effortless for users to adopt.

Option 2: SHIFT + BEAT FX [ON/OFF]

  • How it works: Holding SHIFT and pressing the Beat FX ON/OFF button cycles forward through the routing options: MIC ➔ MASTER ➔ CH1 ➔ CH2 ➔ MIC...
  • Why it’s great: It groups the shortcut directly with the physical FX activation button, making muscle memory incredibly intuitive.

Option 3: SHIFT + [BEAT ◄ / ►] (Beat FX Arrow Buttons)

  • How it works: In the utility/options menu, give users the ability to reassign SHIFT + BEAT ◄ / ► to cycle the FX target previous or next, rather than its default function.
  • Why it’s great: It keeps the hand entirely in the FX zone and allows users to customise their layout based on their personal performance style.

Option 4: SHIFT + LOAD 1 / LOAD 2

  • How it works:
    • SHIFT + LOAD 1 cycles backward.
    • SHIFT + LOAD 2 cycles forward.
  • Why it’s great: These buttons are high up and easily accessible, preventing any accidental triggers of playing deck controls.

Implementing even one of these shortcut options would make the OMNIS-DUO feel incredibly snappy, responsive, and tactile in standalone mode! Hopefully, the AlphaTheta team can see how much of a game-changer this would be for us.
