DDJ Flex-6 - Fader

The fader only works if I hold  the Shift button. I looked at the preference - controller - mixer - Fader start. So I disabled it and nothing happens, so I switched it back. I've never owned a piece of equipment before but shouldn't it fade with out pressing shift.

I also have mixer channels 1/3 to the left and 2/4 the right. So I would think that would work. The good thing is I know the fade works because it works on the interface and if I have the shift button enabled. 

Might be an easy fix but need an expert.
