Rekordbox (Lightning & Midi Mapping) - loopMidi & Midi-OX Problem
Hello dear community,
First of all here's a small heads up concerning the equipement:
- Pioneer DDJ FLX10
- Rekordbox 6, running on Windows
- Akai APC Mini MKII
Recently, I started using the Lightning mode in Rekordbox because of its pre-made light shows for each song. However it really hard to use the FLX10 to have the control over the lighting while mixing (I'd love to still have some kind of control for colors, banks, strobe,...), and that's why I invested in the Akai APC Mini MKII. Well, it does the job.. but... it works meeh... not so great. Biggest problem is that there's no visual help on the Akai since that, in the MIDI mapping, you can't configure velocity and channel IN/OUT for the ON/OFF parameters. Therefore you never know what going on neither you know which button is for what. Unless you stick some stickers on the pads.
So, this is when I did my research, and found a way to control the brightness, blinking and color coding for my Akai pads with Dashlight, a lightning software that can do that as you can set a channel and velocity for each pad when it's on or off. I also found out that to send midi from one hardware device to multiple softwares you need loopMidi and MIDI-OX for routing. And this works wonders with all softwares I tested out, except... Rekordbox. Unfortunately seems like Rekordbox does not recognize the MIDI-OX routing, neither it recognizes the virtual MIDI structure from loopMIDI. Basically everything starts blinking, turning on and off.
Basically, the only way to use the AKAI for lightning is if Rekordbox is the only software using it, and directly (not trough MIDI routing software loopMIDI/MIDI-OX). But as mentioned, you do not have any visual help on the AKAI (colors/blinking/...).
So my fellow DJs and lightning fanatics.. did anyone managed to get a workaround this thing? Any routing that could work in my case?
Cheers!

Hi, you have to delete the midi out number manually while you are not in learn mode
