Missing Feature/Bug: Beatjumps before the start of the song - Any progress?

Hi,

Since all four similar threads regarding this topic are a now a couple of years old and commenting was not possible anymore: Every couple of months I go back here to see if there was any progress in implementing this feature because I would really like to finally switch from Traktor to Recordbox, for years now.

So: Is there any progress in this regard? Maybe I am wrong but I would assume that this would be a very easy fix?!

Again, very briefly, why it totally makes sense to be able to beatjump "into dead silence" (as wondered by the Pioneer team in one of the older threads) before the start of a track:

This beatjump "into dead silence before a track" enables you mixing a new song into a running (beatmached) old song without being forced to press play in the particular moment the new song starts. Means, you have both hands free to work on the old song while the new song is basically "counting down in silence" before it starts "automatically". Also, it enables you to play the first few notes of the new song and then jump back 4/8/16 bars after which the song starts again, with pressing just one button. If you do this a couple of times, this works as a perfect teaser for the new song and you only have to press one button one time for each preview instead of, for instance, pressing and holding Cue with one hand just in the right moment.

I use this mixing technique with Traktor for years now, e.g. when mixing radio edits that start uniquely right from the beginning (think of "Alors on Danse" or similar). I could not find a work around that enables me working like this with Recordbox yet. But I am of course open for new ideas if you have any.

This aside, I personally even think that the way Recordbox behaves when you intentionally or not-intentionally try to beatjump before the start of track is heavily irritating and actually kind of a bug: If you negative beatjump when the negative beatjump has more bars than the track has already played, Recordbox forces an immediate new start of the song from the beginning regardless of any prior sync and beatmatching. It basically overrules the sync/beatmatching functionality. In other words: Not only does Recordbox not provide the feature, it might even ruin the mix by going off beat even when auto sync is activated. This - in my view completely contra intuitive - behavior stopped me from even trying to switch to Recordbox even though I would love to because even when willing to re-learn I would press the beatjump button at least occasionally in these situations, which would ruin especially those transitions that are very "spotlighty".

I think there must be a number of silent readers like me hoping for a fix here from Recordbox. So please, fix it :)

Best,

ML
