Opus Quad Loop Encoder Functionality + Shift Key
One thing I think the OQ would SIGNIFICANTLY benefit from, would be to take the Loop Encoder Wheel + Shift Key functionality from Traktor - specifically the S5.
This would give these core functions:
- While a track is playing (or not playing) and loop is NOT active, holding Shift and turning the loop encoder will scroll through the track at the number of bars the loop function is currently set.
This is excellent for track preparation and can allow you to scroll quickly through a track in a very intuitive way (much better than the beat jump buttons) and in performance, it allows you to scroll through a track simply and quickly.
- When a track is playing and loop IS active, holding shift and turning the loop encoder will shift the position of the loop by the number of bars the loop is currently set to.
This is great in performance as you may have missed the previous loop point and this function can allow you to QUICKLY and INTUITIVELY get back there. While the track search buttons can do this, they may be set to the wrong number of bars and require too many steps to make work. By being able to quickly hold shift and rotate the encoder, its so intuitive.
I HIGHLY recommend that you have a play with the Traktor S5 and see how well this is implemented.
This addition would change my life!
Please please implement. It'll make the OQ perfect.
