External Phono Preamps & Pioneer DJM Mixer Question

Hey ya'll! I own a Pioneer S9 mixer and DJ both DVS (Serato) and vinyl. I've played around with an analog rotary mixer and really loved the sound of it. Ideally, I'd like to improve the sound quality when DJing vinyl, not break bank and purchase an analog mixer (at this moment), and still keep the functionality and option of DJing both on Serato and vinyl on the S9 mixer I own.

Would adding an external phono preamp increase sound quality through the S9 when playing vinyl? Is this possible to do?

Would adding an external preamp make a difference on the output stage of the S9 when playing vinyl?

If possible and if it would help increase the sound quality, would ya'll have any recommendations for phono pre-amps?

My thought was to run the phono-out's from my 1200's to the external preamp, then run the output from the external preamp to the line-in channels on the S9, essentially bypassing the phono preamps on the S9.

Additional info - I'm using Jico J44A7 cartridges with their N44-7 styli.
