DDJ-200 wont connect to my laptop

My DDJ-200 won't link to my laptop. I have the chord attached to an adaptor and then plugged into my computer, but it does not connect, my laptop doesn't even know that something is being plugged in. I keep looking up solutions, and it seems I am the only one having this problem. Any advice will help, as I am in over my head and cannot connect.
