Connection issues

My son has a Lenovo p11 plus tablet and we just got him a flx4 for Christmas. Something isn't communicating right. If I try and connect power to the controller and then a cable to the tablet the tablet recognizes the plug and will connect and disconnect about 3 times. But when it's done I'll have no control with the controller. I've gone into USB settings and controlled by is connected device. I can't switch to "this device" and everything else is greyed out. This is some issue with either recordbox app, controller or Lenovo and I can't figure it out. If I just use no power to the controller, the tablet will power the controller but the sound is basically just distortion/static. Amy help out there?
